Rimmel | Heart Breaker

Rimmel lipstick Heart Breaker 016

I've never not brought a Rimmel lipstick that isn't a Kate Moss one, but today was a different day! I decided that I wanted to start wearing a pinker lip due to me wishing for the Spring and this one caught my attention. It's called Heart breaker, shade 016. It is definitely a bolder pink and reminds me of a blooming floral garden in the sun!

When on the lips, the lipstick is a really opaque shade and glides on with a smooth creamy texture. It is not matte and has a really nice shimmer, especially when it catches the light! The product promises to last 8hours, but if I'm honest I don't often wear a lipstick long enough to judge this. Especially as I find myself having to reapply lipstick after eating anyway - I can make a right mess! When I'm out, I tend not to carry the same lipstick with me as I can find myself trying to stare into a tiny compact mirror for ages just trying to perfect it again. Instead I carry a lipgloss on me, this smoothes and coats all of the lip with the same consistency in colour. My favourite to combine with Heart Breaker is Tanya Burrs Lipgloss in Aurora; I find the colours really compliment each other!

What do you think? Are there any lip colours we should be paying attention to this year?

Let me know in the comments :)

My New Contour Loves

I haven't tried out any new blushers or bronzers for a long time, so I decided to take the plunge and have bought myself a couple of new items to add to my make up bag! I'm probably the last one to finish the race when it comes to trying these products but nonetheless I am here, and I am excited to see if they compare with the reviews I've read.

The first one is a Soap and Glory bronzer: Solar Powder.

The first thing to note with this product is the packaging. It's different to what you would expect, usually compacts come in plastic containers which reassure you slightly that the powder is safe. This product however comes in a cardboard like packaging. Immediately, I thought that this product will be prone to damage, cardboard isn't sturdy after all. However the more I thought about it, the more my science head switched on (ha). I thought that if you were to drop a plastic compact on a hard floor, the plastic itself is what is most likely to break and then causing the powder to shatter. If you were to drop this solar powder on the floor, then the most harm it can do is a slight dent in the container...surely? I don't know, it's not a tested method but if it ever happens (by accident!) I'll let you know.

The product itself is great. I was too impatient and I'd already dived into it before photographing! But a fresh compact would show that there is a lot of shimmer on the S&G letters, which I swirled together with the bronzer but sadly the sparkle has mainly disappeared now. It is a nice light and subtle bronze shade which I think is ideal right now as I'm a little pale, anything too dark would not work well this time of year. I love to build this up in the hollows of my cheeks and work to blend the light and the dark shade together. I also just sweep this over any areas of my face where the sun naturally hits. It definitely adds a great deal of definition to your face.

The second is a Sleek blush by 3 palette in Lace.

First impressions were 'omg the mirror is so big, I need this' basically. I then went and swatched the products and realised everybody is right about the insane amount of pigmentation this product gives. I really love Guipure, it is a great shade to gradually add to the tops of the cheek bones due to its shimmer, making it a great highlighter. Crochet and Chantily are perfect for the apples of your cheeks, making you look flushed by a cold breeze. Overall I'm really pleased with this product, it is a great little trio and I'm very keen to invest in a couple of others...maybe pink lemonade!

Both of these products were used in yesterdays Face of the Day post, so check out the products in action if you haven't already.

Let me know of any contouring products you love in the comments :)

Fitted Lingerie

Chloe Lace balconette bra Boux Avenue

Here I am, posting my underwear on the internet...BUT it's all for a good cause! Last year I was introduced to the glorious shop that is Boux Avenue. If you didn't know, Boux Avenue is a lingerie, swimwear and night wear store here in the UK. Everything they sell is deluxe and made to an incredible standard, every penny you spend there is worth it. This store is my place to go when I need a new set, it is my holy saviour! For anyone who has a small back size and a large cup size, then you will understand my problem and the struggle of trying to find a bra in your size. Now you can know where I will be sending you, go to Boux!

As a beginner, I never spent my time in choosing a bra that was comfortable, functional and fitted. I don't truly think I knew what I was doing when it came to this area of shopping. I was a young teen, I found it embarrassing to buy them when I was shopping with my parents or friends and even handing them over to the guy behind the till was an ordeal. I totally get it if any of you feel that way. I never really had much of a bust until recently. I remember being one of the school children who would hide in the corner when getting changed for PE, whilst all the other girls would be comparing their 'My Little Pony'  undies sets. I think getting a bra was the first true feeling of female adolescence in a young girl, a lot of girls would feel mature and womanly when wearing one.

For a good amount of years, I'd say I was wearing the wrong size bra. Big deal? Well yes it is actually. You can suffer from a lot of pain in many areas such as the back and shoulder which can even lead to severe headaches and indigestion. One of the most important factors to consider is the role your bra actually plays. Let's be realistic.. you have got an extra amount of weight coming from your upper chest and to help that, you need a bra for support... think of it like scaffolding! If you are mistreating this area by wearing the wrong size, you are damaging a numerous amount of ligaments, and as you age you will find that your bust might show signs of 'sagginess' due to unnecessary stretching of an incorrect size bra.

This is where I urge you to get a fitting. I was nervous at first... what do they do? do I need to get naked? do they touch me? But I had an amazing time with Boux Avenue, all the girls there are extremely lovely and helpful. As a little guidance, you may be asked the current size bra you are wearing, and from this they can tell if this size/shape fits you. They measure your back size using a really cool tape measure, it may feel a little tight, but this is so that they can get an accurate measurement. Then, they offer you a couple of bras to try on and once you're ready, you press the button and they come and check the fit. Once you're happy, they will give you a little card saying who you were fitted by, your size/hook and recommended styles. And the best thing to note, is that this is all free! No body pressures you into buying anything!

Everything of this shop is beautiful. It's not a raunchy shop with cringey outfits, you are made to feel comfortable by the staff. Do not hesitate when opening any drawers as well, this is the point. Here you will find a whole range of sizes, so don't feel disheartened if you can't find yours on the hanger. Do look out for great deals as well, sometimes a 3 for 2 is on and there's even times where you may get a freebie! (I got free pair of matching knickers with the above bra!) It's also worth picking up a points card, its the perfect little bonus.

This post was a little different, but I hope you still enjoyed it!

I hope in reading this, you have learnt something and if I've inspired you to have a bra fitting then I am really pleased :)

12 Things About Me

As it's coming up to a years anniversary since I started my blog I thought It would be nice for you all to know a little bit more about me! In this year, some of my lovely readers have nominated me for all sorts of blog awards which I'm very grateful for! I've never actually posted my responses to these awards but for this post, I've decided to include some of the questions I was asked, along with some others to let you find out about me!

1. Do you have a middle name?
My middle name is Jane, hence my blog name Emily Jane. I actually prefer my middle name to my last name but shhh don't tell the family!

2. What's is your favourite colour?
Okay so I really love bright colours like citrus orange and lime green but then again I love grey. You cannot go wrong with grey. If there is a jumper in 5 different colours, and you don't know what colour to choose...CHOOSE GREY.

3. Have you finished school?
Yes, I finished school in the summer of 2013 and now attend a college until this summer.

4.What was your favourite subject at school?
This changed ALOT... to begin with it was all things Arty, especially textiles but as I took this subject as a GCSE in year 9, it mean't I didn't do it in year 10 or 11. At this point my favourite subject varied from what I was doing best in, meaning that one day it was Maths the next day French and then after Science. But it was NEVER English!

5. What's your favourite song at the moment?
Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding and Crazy In Love by Sofia Karlberg. Yes both the Fifty Shades of Grey versions. And yes I'm slightly obsessed.

6. Do you speak any other languages?
No, but the funny thing is I might learn one ;)

7. What's your favourite store?
If I was shopping for clothes, I'd be looking for a H&M because I can always find something! If I was looking for lingerie, then I'd be searching for a Boux Avenue... they are the only bra shop that sells my size so thank you Theo Paphitis.  And if I was looking for anything else, I'd be hunting down Wilko's!

8. Favourite smells?
Two things: New books/magazines or the smell of a freshly blown out candle.

9. Who is your all time favourite Disney character?
(Question by: Summer Sapphires)
Speaking of candles, my favourite Disney character is Lumière. Under-rated...that's all I will say.

10. If you had 3 wishes what would you wish for?
(Question by: tiffanys-balderdash)
Wish 1: Another genie... Wish 2: Unlimited wishes... Wish 3: Peanut butter

11. You've won a free, all-expenses-paid trip to anywhere in the world. You'll be there for one week. Where do you go?
(Question by: Edge of Night)
Well easy for me. I had the best time of my life whilst holidaying in Bulgaria last year, and it just so happened that I met some very important people out there who I'd like to see again soon!

12. If you could give one piece of advice to your past self, what would it be?
(Question by: Edge of Night
My past self was a true stress-head. And I know I still am now, but looking back I would advise myself not to worry about small things. I would occasionally sit at home on a Sunday evening thinking 'oh no!! I haven't made my poster on key words for volcanic islands, this means I'll never get a place at university and get my dream job'...this really isn't the case, calm down and eat a biscuit (or two).

I hope you know a little more about me with these answers! I'd just like to say thank you for everyone that nominated me for these awards including; Emily, Kiri, Euhnella and Hannah. It really means a lot to me!

Oh and also... Happy Pancake Day!
